‘Fast X: Part 2’ Could Be Going Back to Actual Street Racing

Published:

Vin Diesel has just dropped yet another update in the confusing saga of Fast X: Part 2. Earlier this year, Diesel said that production on the final Fast & Furious movie was going to begin this summer, but things took a turn when stars such as Jason Momoa and Tyrese Gibson admitted that they knew nothing and hadn’t even read a script. These concerns were further validated by a recent report claiming that Universal Pictures would cancel Fast 11 entirely if the budget wasn’t brought down by more than $100 million. However, Vin Diesel has personally decided he isn’t going to let this family go out without one final ride.

Diesel took to his personal Instagram last week to shut down these rumors that Fast X: Part 2 was going to be canceled, seemingly confirming the start of production. He’s taken an even bigger step forward in the last few days, posting a video of himself with his co-star Michelle Rodriguez, where they make an interesting proclamation. In the video, they claim that the most important part of the Fast & Furious finale is “going back to the integrity that we started with,” signifying that Fast X: Part 2 will be more like earlier movies with street racing than later installments.

The set video can be watched here.

While Diesel is certainly optimistic, there are still plenty of hoops that Fast X: Part 2 has to jump through before it makes it to the big screen. Production on a movie this big could easily take months, and even longer in post-production, meaning it likely won’t be on the big screen anytime before 2027. There’s also the matter of making sure the schedules line up, which is even trickier now that the franchise has brought two major stars back into the fold.
